Summary
The Director of Employment Services is responsible
for the overall program management of the Employment
Services department. Program areas include but are not
limited to Vocational Assessments, Job Skills Training, Job
Development, Supported Employment and Trial Work Experiences
for persons with disabilities.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepares and monitors
program budgets, contracts and grants including those
related to Family
Care, CIP/COP funding, DVR, and Wisconsin Department of
Health Services projects, e.g., Work Incentive
Disability Benefits Counseling.

Identifies potential
funding sources to maintain and expand programs,
including Prevocational Programs.

Completes all record
keeping, reporting and compliance requirements.

Oversees and provides
support for program billing.
-
Provides supervision,
consultation, staff development and performance
evaluations to the Employment Services staff.

Recruits, interviews and
orients new staff members.
-
Conducts weekly staff
meetings to provide program direction and support.
-
Provides consultation and
information & referral to adults and/or their families
who are interested in employment.

Conducts intake
interviews of all potential recipients of Employment
Services.

Provides consultation and
public speaking including committee membership in the
community with various groups, organizations and
individuals that are involved or have interest and
concern about community employment for people with
cerebral palsy and other disabilities.

Oversees the organization
and operation of the Business Advisory Council.

Maintains agency advocacy
standards in program development and administration.
Supervisory
Responsibilities
Manages 9 employees.
Qualifications

Education and/or
Experience
Bachelor's degree in
Vocational Rehabilitation and/or five years relevant
experience
Workplace Disability Laws,
Incentives and Other Good Employment Practices
Knowledge of the workplace
requirements established by the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA) and other employment regulations. Knowledge of
practical suggestions to help employers succeed in their
efforts to hire and retain persons with disabilities.
Ability to respond to
questions employers may have about financial incentives.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and
interpret budgets, common financial reports, and legal
documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or
complaints from consumers, funding sources, or members of
the business community. Ability to write speeches and
articles for publication that conform to prescribed style
and format. Ability to effectively present information to
top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures
and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical
problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job
successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Access
Database; Internet Search engines; Excel Spreadsheet and
Word Processing software. Individual must be able to
develop comprehensive understanding of complex billing
systems and procedures

Other Skills and Abilities
Advanced skills in working
with disabled adults. Understanding of Deaf culture and
American Sign Language desired.
