Job Title: Special Events Manager

Department: Development

Reports To: Director Development

FLSA Status: Exempt

United Cerebral Palsy of Southeastern Wisconsin seeking energetic, detail oriented self-starter with excellent communication & computer skills!  Budget & volunteer management, marketing, promotion and securing sponsorships. Prior events management experience preferred. EOE.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Understand and embrace the mission of United Cerebral Palsy of Southeastern Wisconsin.

Plan, implement and market all activities for agency’s three major special events and fundraisers in collaboration with Director of Development.  Develop strategies to accomplish the goals of the special events. Create budgets, timelines and documentation; work with community and agency volunteers to staff events, work with vendors to coordinate all events activities.

Obtain sponsorships for events through contacts in community. 

Maintain existing corporate relationships and develop new ones.

Obtain in-kind donations through contacts in community.

Develop and maintain internal and external relationships with vendors, sponsors and agency supporters.

Develop all promotional materials for events.

Assist Director of Development with press releases for events.

Maintain and update event files and documentation.

Keep raffle license renewed.

Acquire knowledge about the donor database software and use it effectively. 

Participate in annual plan for department, including establishing financial goals for special events.

Demonstrate adequate efforts to achieve financial goals in special events.

May assist in other development activities.

Education and/or Experience                                                

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proven experience and success in special events.

Language Skills                                             

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical Skills                                                   

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability                                                       

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills                                             

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software and donor database software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Certified Meeting Professional ("CMP") a plus.
