Summary The
Employment Specialist assists program participants in
identification of skills, interests, resources, employment
options, implementation of a job development plan and job
placement in a competitive market, developing and
maintaining relationships with employers.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- To
understand and utilize the philosophy of ES with
participants in the program on a day-to day basis.

Conduct an individualized functional community based
assessment for participants assigned to caseload.

Assist participant in developing appropriate job-related
goals and objectives.

Coordination of monthly “Career Development” classes.

Communication, coordination, and transition of program
participants to/from other agencies and significant
others.

Provide communication with family and significant
others.
-
Conduct individualized job development that includes:
phone contacts, business correspondence, presentations
to employers, and tours of prospective businesses.

Assist program participants in applying for employment
and the hiring process, including negotiating the needs
of the applicant, i.e. adaptation, and job-site
accommodations.

Work with Employment Consultants in the planning and
training of transportation needs.

Foster community integration skills with each
participant.

Complete and maintain all required documentation of
services.

Provide counseling to participants around issues that
may be barriers to securing or maintaining employment.
