Leave Your Legacy with a Planned Gift

A planned gift is a donation made after careful consideration of both your family’s financial needs and your personal charitable goals.  After providing for your loved ones through your estate plan, your assets can be distributed according to your wishes, even after your death, provided you have a will or a trust that clearly indicates your intentions, including charitable donations.  Your wish to leave assets to UCP of Southeastern Wisconsin and other charities can only be made real when you have a will, trust, insurance contract or planned gift arrangement with the charity.  The UCP-SEW Executive Director is happy to work with you and your attorney or financial planner to ensure that your legacy to UCP truly represents your wishes.

The most common planned gift is a bequest in your will.

  • Your attorney can include a bequest when preparing your will or add a brief codicil establishing the bequest in your existing will.
  • The terms of a bequest can be changed at any time, if your needs or the needs of your family, change.
  • Establishing a bequest by will keeps your financial assets available to you during your lifetime.

How to include a bequest for UCP-SEW in your will?

It’s easy to do --- start with a phone call to your attorney.  Tell your attorney that you wish to remember UCP of Southeastern Wisconsin in your will.  If you have not yet prepared a will, this is an excellent opportunity to execute a will that will ensure that you have provided for your loved ones and remembered the charitable causes that are most meaningful to you.  Ask your attorney to include such words as these:

“I give, devise or bequeath to United Cerebral Palsy of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc., Milwaukee, Wisconsin for its general purposes all (or state a fraction) of the rest, residue or remainder of my estate, whether real or personal.”
- or -
“I give to United Cerebral Palsy of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc., Milwaukee, Wisconsin the sum of ______________________dollars to be used for the general purposes of the agency.”
